The Games staff breaks down our favorite femme fatales from the digital world. From Lara Croft to Samus Aran, from Bloodrayne to Cortana, we got you covered this week
Welcome back to a total geek-out edition of the Top 5. Why is it a total geek-out edition? Well this week the games staff ranks our favorite video game femme fatales. Why are we doing this? Because I thought it might be fun to change things up a bit. So if you are looking for pixilated babes, you have come to the right place.
Comment Time with Toddo!
Lets just jump right into the lists this week.
Typing of the Dead, Seaman (Why have they not made a sequel to this yet?), Crazy Taxi, Space Channel 5 (much better than the ps2 port), Unreal Tournament, Sonic Adventure--I have a 360 and a PS3--but definitely enjoyed my Dreamcast more.

Honorable Mentions- Marvel vs Capcom 1/2. Sonic Adventure 2.
5. Sonic Adventure- A great game but one that simply doesn't hold up well as some others to the test of time. Some of the characters (Knuckles... Amy... Big...) have segments that are pretty boring in retrospect but the Sonic sections show how amazing 3-d Sonic can be.
4. Soul Calibur- A pretty much flawless port of the original plus a lengthy single player mode. Not much else to say. Sega's consoles were always the best place for fighters.
3. Power Stone- The ultimate fighting party game. Accessible controls, fun wacky characters, interactive environments, and cool items to beat down your opponent with. This game was just pure fun. I liked the first better as it was a bit less over the top but you can't go wrong with either one.
2. Skies of Arcadia- 100% of the JRPG action with 100% less emo. While in the aftermath of FF7 the tormented hero was becoming a fixture of the RPG genre Skies took a different approach. The cast was cheerful and likeable, the gameplay had some nice innovations (including ship battles and such), and the story was strong.
1. Shenmue- Perhaps the most ambitious game ever made up to that time. Shenmue was one of the first games to truly nail the open world concept. And unlike other games featuring open worlds you actually felt like you were a real organic part of the world. No other game has sucked me in quite like Shenmue. Sad that the series ended on a cliffhanger which will likely never be resolved.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 1 was great too.
5. Shenmue
4. Soul Calibur

5. Ikaruga. Treasure shoot em up excellence. I don't think that the Dreamcast version got released outside of Japan. Should this bar me from including it in my list?
4. Skies of Arcadia.
3. Marvel Vs Capcom 2.
2. Any of the Street Fighter 3s.
1. Capcom Vs SNK 2. Like Marvel vs Capcom 2, this originated on the Naomi arcade board. Thus, the (Japan only?) Dreamcast version was the definitive one (I prefer to forget about the EO rubbish that later versions had).

Thanks for all the great lists everyone. Plenty of great Dreamcast games to choose from.
What I'd be curious to see is a top 5 Sega Saturn games...
certainly it would have to include Panzer Dragoon, Nights and Dragon Force.

Ask and you shall receive. The Sega Saturn is actually one of the stops on our nostalgia tour, and should be coming up within the next few weeks. Stick with us, we'll get to it.
The Dreamcast was an amazing console! The good-to-garbage ratio was higher than almost any other system you can name.
I am so glad I got to work at an EB Games during the Dreamcast's life span. I have so many DC classics that if I was locked in my house for a month with ONLY my Dreamcast stuff I'd still be thoroughly entertained.

I'm starting to notice that I missed out on one hell of a console back in the day. That makes Toddo a sad panda. Anyways, on with the show shall we?

As I said above, this week in a effort to come off as geeky as possible, the 411 Games staff is ranking our favorite video game vixens. We are talking everyone from the ultra popular Lara Croft, on down the line. Sit back, enjoy yourself, and please... Don't take this to seriously, we didn't. Without further ado, 411 Games presents: The Top 5 video game vixens.
Up first this week is the man that brings us the 10th Hour here at 411 Games. Most recently Adam clocked in with a preview of the awesome Brutal Legend demo. Check out his preview here.

HONORABLE MENTIONS
Alex Vance - She may not be the hottest girl on the list, but her personality and realistic demeanor easily makes up for it.
Chun-Li - One of the most well-known characters from Street Fighter, I still find her huge legs a bit odd when put in proportion with the rest of her body.
5.Tifa - Out of all the Final Fantasy games, Tifa is probably the one that is most memorable for me. It always struck me as cool that she was one of the only women in the series that used only her fists to fight. Plus, her limit breaker was cool to see as well.
4.Lara Craft - One of the biggest known girls in gaming, a list wouldn't be complete without her. Craft has changed her appearance quite a bit as the games went on, but she still kept the same Tomb Raiding background throughout. Unfortunately, her games started to lose quality over time. Hopefully the recent games are a sign of better things to come.
3.Samus Aran - How many people were shocked when it was finally revealed that Samus was actually a female? That aside, she is one of the most well known girls in gaming. Her variety of suits and weapons are always cool to find, and her games have always been great. It's always nice to see her come out in another game.
2.Rayne - Before the movies destroyed this character, Rayne was one of the top gaming girls for a while. Being a dhampir with twin arm blades, Rayne was a fun character to control in game. Plus, it probably helped when Playboy put her in their magazine, even if it was a bit out of place in the magazine.
1.Ivy - It seems that each time a new Soul Calibur comes out, her clothing becomes less and less. However, besides her looks, Ivy has quite an interesting storyline in the game. Also, how can you ignore a girl that has a sword that can be split apart and individually controlled?
Following Adam this week is the resident retro guy. Lee's latest Retronomicon covers a Genesis classic Desert Strike. Be sure to check that out when you have a chance.

HONORABLE MENTIONS
The Rings of Power Girl (Rings of Power) - Before you turn on your Genesis hold A + B + C + Down-Right + Start for 16-Bit boobs!
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider Series) - She was never my kind of thing but you have to give her a mention just because of the impact she had
5.Kasumi (Dead or Alive Series) - What is it with me and secret ways to see piss poor nudity? I remember there being a code in DOA2 in which you could get the intro video to show a naked Kasumi. Granted she had the same anatomy as a Barbie doll but it was something dammit. Plus DOA2 in general should get a mention just because it has decided that being 99 does not mean sagginess, but rather that it means over-inflation and much jiggling.
4.Tifa Lockheart (Final Fantasy VII) - Continuing the apparent trend of video game girls having enormous chesticles we have Tifa Lockheart of Final Fantasy VII. She looks fine and all that, but I've always been a sucker for long hair which grants Tifa's arse length locks an automatic place on this list. Plus she can kick your ass seven ways to Sunday if you look at her funny, which is always a bonus.
3.Samus Aran (Metroid Series) - She's a fetishists dream. Well if your fetish involves lots of metal and death rays and balls and stuff. The first video game babe has to get some recognition somewhere, but she would probably shoot me for saying it. Which I think is awesome.
2.Jill Valentine (Resident Evil Series) - I have a bit of a thing for blue, as shown by this pick and my number one choice. Jill was smoking hot in Nemesis and everybody knows what thoughts ran through their head when Barry uttered the immortal line "Jill Sandwich". I must say though that blonde is definitely not her color.
1.Rinoa Heartilly (Final Fantasy VIII) - Rinoa always got to me when I was a kid. I dunno if it was the cool body length cardigan or the fact that I'm into petite girls and she matched the description perfectly, but Rinoa gets top spot on the saddest list I've ever compiled. I always seem to like girls with an overly positive attitude; it seems to balance out my cynicism quite well, so Rinoa again fits the bill. And Final Fantasy VIII needs something seeing as I regard it as the worst FF game to date.
Jeffrey recently interviewed Big Country Roy Nelson, the former IFL Heavyweight Champion and current TUF 10 (well current as of this writing anyways, who knows how things played out between him and Kimbo this week) contestant for the MMA zone. I for one hope Nelson beats Kimbo.

HONORABLE MENTIONS
Lady (Devil May Cry) - In Devil May Cry 3, Lady hadn't quite gotten there yet. But boom, DMC 4 and she is freaking on fire. The sunglasses, the better graphics, and the bouncier bust. Lady definitely filled out. She's also hot in the anime.
5.Samus Aran - Samus I think is probably the first action babe of video gaming. So that alone warrants her being on the list. Samus even became hotter with age as graphics technology improved. Even Solid Snake thinks she's a magnificent specimen.
4.Meryl (Metal Gear Solid) - Its absolute BS she married Johnny Sasaki, but she's still a badass videogame babe not to mention a hot redhead. The problem? She really should've just pined for Snake for years in tragic sorrow instead of freaking marrying JOHNNY FREAKING SASAKI! Otacon: "She did have a cute little behind."
3.Trish (Devil May Cry) - Yes its kind of creepy due to who she looks like and that person's relation to Dante, but Trish is still awesome. And that bastard Dante has all these hot women around him and never does anything about it. C'mon Dante, stoke a clipper and be back for breakfast.
Rachel playing Ninja Gaiden as… Rachel?
2.Rachel (Ninja Gaiden) - Rachel has got it going on. A warrior babe that kills monsters and wears skimpy black leather. Awesome. Rachel is not a damsel in distress either. She can fight, but she's still hot while doing so.
1.Ada Wong - The reason why RE4 on PS2 is the ultimate game, you get all sorts of badass awesome Ada Wong fan service with the Separate Ways chapters. Gamecube didn't have that. Dammit Leon, step your game up with Ada! She's not really bad, you just have to tame her.
Bringing us home today is Mr. What if? himself, Greg Bruno. Greg writes a new column for the site when he can manage to drag himself away from Megan Fox. most recently he managed to distract himself from his Megan fixation with a review of Halo 3: ODST.
Greg "Bulldozer" Bruno
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Princess Peach - What? Don't give me that look. You'd hit it.
5.Sonya Blade - Sure, she can kill you with a kiss. Sure, she's got "Madonna Arms". But I'd Bang-ality her any day. Plus, she's hot and kicks ass.
4.Ada Wong - Ada drips with mystery. That's a turn on ladies, take note. The thing about Ada is that she presents a challenge. When a girl seems too easy...she probably is. Ada, on the other hand, is going to make you work for it. Plus she's hot and will mysteriously disappear in the morning before you even wake up.
3.Samus Aran - It's likely Samus is the perfect woman. She doesn't say a whole lot and knows how to take care of herself. Those are two very nice things to have in a girl. (Insert "morph ball" joke here). Plus she's hot and has lots of cool guns.
2.Lara Croft - Lara has been in my top 5 for many years now. She's "sexiness" wrapped in "badass" covered in "rich girl". What's not to love about Ms. Croft? Plus, she's hot and loaded with cash.
1.Cortana - Cortana is, by far, the ultimate video game babe and I'll tell you why. She's saved the freakin' universe on more than one occasion. Also, she's got that sense of humor that makes you second guess your manhood. Yea, that's clutch. Plus, she's hot and already naked.
On a side note, Megan Fox is easy to create in the Sims 3. Consider her to be all 5 of my top 5.
Todd Vote
I once said I could fill a top five gaming chicks list with females from just Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat. In the interest of fairness, I will refrain from doing that. I will feature one girl from each series, and move on.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Samus Aran - Who didn't shit a brick the first time you used the Justin Bailey code and seen that Samus was a woman?
5.The Oracle (God of War) - Yeah, the shear nightie she wore was a big factor in this... Half the fun of making a list like this is who would play them if it was ever adapted to a movie. For the Oracle, I narrowed it down to two actresses that could pull of the look; the first is Morena Baccarin. You may know her from her role as Inara in Firefly. The second choice here, and probably the more apt choice is Emmanuelle Chriqui. She has the exotic look and the perfect body to play God of Wars Oracle.
4.Cortana (Halo) - The digital hotness from Halo comes in 4th on my list mainly because she is a digital chick in a world that is already pixilated... So that makes her like half the woman as the rest of the vixens on this list, right? Oh no, I've gone cross-eyed. As for who I would love to see play her if a movie role were ever needed... How about Olivia Wilde? *No Greg, I'm not saying Megan Fox*
3.Sonya Blade - Sonya Blade for me is the original fighting game badass chick. As we all know, Sonya has already been featured as two different actresses in film. Brigitte Wilson and Sandra Hess. I would argue that there are several more capable candidates than either of those two. As much as I would love to see Christina Hendricks go blond, I can see Uma Thurman fitting into the role.
2.Lara Croft - Okay, Megan Fox could take up this role, I think looks wise. But does she have the acting chops to pull of an English accent?
Tell me she couldn't pull it off
1.The girls of Killer Instinct 2 - I know I said I would only use one per series, but does it get any better than the trifecta of cleavage and ass-shots provided by these three fatal vixens? The curves used on the girls of Killer Instinct 2 are beyond the realm of comprehension. And we though Barbie was out of proportion? Okay, I have to choose just one... Maya it is. Love the jungle look. Now who plays these chicks? I think Janet Jackson bears a striking resemblance to all three, but I would put her as Kim-Wu (I know Janet is not Asian, but deny the resemblance in the photos above)... Rosario Dawson as B. Orchid, and.... Not sure who I would put in as Maya. Maybe Charlise Theron, with an augmentation to certain areas.
Bonus Video:
In contrast to this weeks subject, how about a look at Screwattacks Top 10 ugly game chicks:
There you have it, our favorite digital babes. Agree? Disagree? Let us know who would make your list in the comments below. Be sure to check back here next week when the Top 5 goes Nostalgic again. I'm not sure yet which system yet, but something tells me Salmela wants the Sega CD. You'll just have to check back to find out.
How about Jesse from Dead Rising? You got points for taking photos of her huge rack! Plus she has the whole 'Velma from Scooby Doo' thing going on. You know when she takes off the glasses and bureaucrat suit she is a (virtual) sex kitten!

I'd say Orchid could be played by Paula Abdul, looks-wise if nothing else. Here's my list:
1. Lara Croft (2 hit movies and millions of games sold can't be wrong)
2. Ivy from Soul Calibur
3. Sonya Blade from Mortal Kombat
4. Chun-Li from Street Fighter 2
5. Pandora from Guitar Hero 2

2. Lolo (The Adventures of Lolo II)
1. Elmyra (Tiny Toons: Buster Busts Loose)

I've always thought Mona Sax from the max payne games was pretty awesome

Honorable mention: Heather (Silent Hill 3)
5. Lulu (FFX)
4. Nariko (Heavenly Sword)
3. Sniper Wolf (MGS)
2. Cammy (SSFII)
1. Aya Brea (Parasite Eve)

This is the kind of subjective list that nobody will ever agree with! But I'll go with:
Honourable mention to Lara Croft (when the history of hot female game characters is written, she'll get her own chapter).
The other 5 in no-particular order:
Tifa Lockheart (FF7)
Elaine Marley-Threepwood (Monkey Island)
Karin Koenig (Shadow Hearts: Covenant)
Joanna Dark (Perfect Dark)
Claire Redfield (Resident Evil)
Posted By: Steve B (Guest) on October 01, 2009 at 02:39 PM
Mo Kitana from MK?
Posted By: CL (Guest) on October 01, 2009 at 04:23 PM
5. Nina Williams (tekken series. What? She kicked ass, you know it.)
4. Tifa (ff7)
3. Meryl (MGS, she whooped ass, and you got to see her semi naked)
2. Ivy (soul calibur)
1. Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) For obvious reasons.

Good to see Samus Aran getting love on the lists, she is my all time fav.
Posted By: Kaotik (Guest) on October 01, 2009 at 08:14 PM
Man. How can there not be an entry for Chun-li in any of these lists? I don't even play Street Fighter and even I would have included her. Do you guys actually play video games?
