This week in GAME POW, we get to see some Graaly goodness from everyone's favorite strategy columnist, Sam Pow.
GAME POW---January 30, 2010

GAME POW time! This week we're looking at some stuff for Graal Classic. In case you didn't read the return column last week, Graal is an MMO for the iPhone, and is very much worth checking out. I don't have much time to write this week, so it's all going to Graal in this shortened column.
Sam Pow's Week In Gaming: Most of my time this week was spent playing Mass Effect 1 so I would be ready for the sequel (which I'm reviewing for the site). I also polished up my fighting skills in Soul Cal, learning most of the moves over again. If I wasn't doing that or eating/sleeping, then I was probably playing Graal, which continues to hold my interest as an MMO even though it's on the iPhone.

Graal Online Classic: Secrets Guide
--------------------------------------------
If you've taken a cue from my column and gone out to buy Graal Classic, then you've probably noticed that there are quite a few secrets to the game. Lots of areas are hidden or require passwords, and there are quite a few glitches being implemented. I thought I'd let you all in on some of those secrets, as kind of an expansion to my n00b Be Gone Guide. Let's start with secret areas.
The VIP Bar
I think we'll start with a classic. One of the first secret areas to ever be in the game, The VIP Lounge of Azrael's Nightclub has been a favorite meeting spot of guilds since the game was released. To get there you'll first have to find the nightclub. From town square (the place you warp to when you say "unstick me") it is almost right next to you, up and slightly to the right. Once you're inside, just keep going up until you reach the bar. On the left there is a table. While sitting in the left-most seat, scoot down very slowly until you are warped into the VIP Lounge. Enjoy.
This is a view of the Graal City Restaurant. The nightclub is right across the street.
Fox's Mansion
On the path to the church in Graal City, there is a cave with several guards inside. Once you go inside, you'll find that one guard is blocking the entrance to what appears to be the real mansion. When you approach him and try to get through, you simply get a message containing only the word "SECRET". For weeks players were baffled by this, until eventually the admins completed it and created the password to get through. In some sort of strange, cruel joke, the password happens to be "super sneaky fox". And oh how sneaky he is. After you type that into your chat and press the good ol' enter key, the guard should disappear, allowing you to walk inside. The interior is a pretty cool looking one room cave house with lots of tables and a bar. It's often a party location, and the mood it sets is really perfect for that kind of thing.
Azrael's Treehouse
Another location that was always around but was unenterable is the treehouse. From the town square, if you go down you'll eventually reach a bridge. From the bottom of the bridge turn right, and keep walking until you reach what appears to be two interlocked trees with a door in the middle. Enter, and follow the path. Eventually you'll reach a guard blocking the path. The password to go past is "fear the tree". After a little longer you'll see that the path is blocked by some barrels. However, if you type "saecraet traehouse" into your chat, they will disappear, allowing you access. Past there you will find some cool meeting spots and other areas. This area is normally pretty n00b-proof because most of them can't figure out how to get in.
The Zone
The Zone is an area below town square that can only be entered by players who have over 100 hours. If you go down and to the right from the Graal City gate, you'll find the blue caged door. Inside is a pool, house, spar area, farm, and even an ammo shop. The whole area was a good idea, and gives experienced players a retreat from the usually crazy areas of Graal. In a strange coincidence, under-100s trying to get into the Zone create an almost constant war right outside of the door.
This is why we need the Zone
The Guild Towers
Soon, three guild towers are going to be released for the multiple clans to fight over for control. At this point, two of them are currently open just to be explored. To gain access to the castle and Sardon's tower, you must have 200 baddy kills and 300 kills, respectively. Both are excellen places to explore, and both of them are shaping up to be great PK zones as well.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Since this issue wasn't cleared up well enough in the previous week's Graal guide, I thought I'd do a fuller piece on codes in Graal. Codes are typed into chat to change the appearance of your sword, shield, and head. None of them are any different stat wise, they all do the same thing. However, it's still fun to be able to change the look of your equipment. Everyone can use all the shields, however, to use swords you must purchase the customization pack, which is currently $0.99 USD. To gain access to all the heads you must also have the custom pack.
The legendary fork sword
To enter a sword code, just type this into your chat, no caps: setsword (sword name).png. Here's an example: setsword dragon-sword.png. In some cases, the .png will be replaced by .gif or .mng to give the equipment an animated look. A shield is just the same, but without the sword part. For example: setshield (shield name).png. Here are some common codes to try out.
And that's it for this week's GAME POW. I hope to see everyone here next week. Remember to comment if you want to leave your thoughts, and if you have any questions, email me. Until next time, POW!
