Top 5 best games or announcements from Leipzig Games Convention
Welcome back to another edition of Top 5, this week it's the:
Top 5 best games or announcements from Leipzig Games Convention
Before we get to this week's column here's some feedback.
Joe Resowski wrote to take umbrage with my spelling.
I'm very shocked that nobody mentioned Earthbound. A sequel was so close on the Nintendo 64 and it could easily be one of the most wanted sequels out there.
I'm also shocked that the misspelled title "Psychonaughts" made it past editing.
Yep I spelt that word wrong. I should have checked it better and didn't. Now I could mock you for taking the time to send me feedback criticising my spelling but really that would be somewhat beneath me. Besides criticising my spelling is like shooting fish in a barrel. I will endeavour to do better in future.
And I never played Earthbound so I have no idea how good it is although I heard that the soon to be DS game Contact is sort of in the same vain.
John Bryant is becoming a bit of a regular and has more good points.
What about the RPG Legend of Dragoon? I mean we barely got to know anything about the history of the series except what we got in those insanely long Cut scenes but at any point we Should be given either a remake or a prequel to the game that I believed could of easily matched FF7 had it had the same press. Of course everyone wants and FF7 remake but personally I'd like to also see a remake of FF9. Now let's see.......Ohh yes I've got it: a remake of da-du-dah...ORIGINAL Final Fantasy. I mean people love the series but no one remembers the original hell I've played practically every game for the series and I dun even remember the Original. Well I gotta go but first: I want another Star Ocean game in the series.
Legend of Dragoon is actually a pretty good game and I'm a little shocked that there was never a sequel. However a remake of FF9 would be nicer then FF7 as I actually really like FF9 and thought it was one of the better PS1 RPG's. It had a decent story and characters and looked great and was just a lot more fun then the incredibly dull FF8.
Actually I'm also a little surprised the first Final fantasy was never remade. I would have thought Square would have done something similar to FF3 on the DS. In fact after they've finished with FF3 I'd quite like them to remake FF6 as it's one of my favourites.
And now on with this weeks Top 5 games or announcements from the Leipzig Games Convention.

5. lost planet
I've played the demo and it rocks and at the convention they showed more multiplayer action and if its as good as the single player is going to be this will be huge come January.
4. Mass Effect
It's going to kick ass and you all know it. That is all.
3. Wii price
A Wii and 360 for less then a PS3. Yep that'll do nicely for me thanks. The more I hear about the Wii the more I'm interested.
2. Exclusive football
The Xbox 360 is doing very well over here and has a great momentum going into Christmas and with this move they've just taken a huge chunk out of any momentum Sony might have had going into releasing the PS3. This will shift more 360's for Microsoft as, Fifa especially, shift huge numbers in the UK alone.
1. Bioshock
The idea of a spiritual successor to System shock gets me all tingly. And as more info came out the more excited I got. This is going to be great. And unlike System shock 2 you'd better all buy it.

5. Metal Gear Solid 4
Mooing tanks with bionic legs. If that doesn't get you excited to play MGS4, nothing will.
4. The DS Web Browser
Lots of new screens for how the web browser looks, and while it certainly looks like it works well, I'm almost starting to question whether this will actually be a success sales wise. Do DS owners really care at all about going on with this thing? Guess I'll just have to see.
3. PINK
Consoles getting a change of colour is normal. Getting a weird choice of colour like PINK is slightly abnormal. But three different consoles all deciding to pick this colour and release it on the same day? That ISN'T normal! Pink is now the new black in gaming hardware.
2. Wii less than 250 Euros
Even more hints about the price of the Wii, as Europe is going to get the system for less then 250 Euros. Even though that converts to about $320, it still leads up to a suspected $250 price point here in America.
1. Exclusive (or not) Soccer Titles
It may not be considered big here, but it's huge news for Europe and Brazil and other soccer loving countries. There was back and forth news whether the games (FIFA and Winning Eleven) were exclusive for Xbox 360 or not, and now it seems like it is, meaning Xbox 360 might finally find a decent audience outside of America.
A short column this week and as per usual please feel free to send any comments or questions about what we did or didn't pick. To celebrate the fact that the Xbox 360 finally has a Japanese Role Playing game next weeks Top 5 will be Top 5 JRPG's.
