The SIXAXIS 04.10.07
Posted by Andrew Mellick on 04.10.2007
A price drop, new stuff to buy, phone calls on the PSP and more in this chocolate laden edition of the SIXAXIS.
Near, far, wherever you are, I believe that the SIXAXIS does go on.
Happy Easter! Welcome back to the SIXAXIS. I went to see Grindhouse this weekend. It's a very interesting flick. I would recommend it to all of you who can stomach a little over the top violence.
I also saw Matt Serra shock the world and defeat GSP this weekend. I'm talking Rocky level stuff here, except Serra actually won…and didn't need a gallon of HGH to do it!
High on chocolate, lets ride!
Sony News
Finally, the peripheral to take down the N Gage empire!
A tech company has figured out yet another use for Sony's all powerful handheld. That new use is none other than as a phone!
Now I can hear you out there now "What? This is voodoo!" No my friends, not voodoo but Jajah. That's the name of the company who has engineered this little marvel. Here is how it works:
1. Register with www.jajah.com, which by the way is totally free.
2. Access the web with your PSP via the wi-fi connection
3. Go to the browser and type mobile.jajah.com
4. Sign in, type in a number and get your call on
This is a very exciting little feature. Not only can you make calls but also you can do it for free most of the time. Make sure to read all the terms and conditions (I know your laughing but I didn't read one of those T and C's and I ended up as a male prostitute in Papua New Guinea for a few weeks). So have fun with your two screens Nintendo, I'll be making phone calls for free thank you.
Life is Peachy!
So you say you can't afford a PS3 aye? Well the good folks at Peach Direct got you covered. Yes you now have the opportunity to rent one for the low, low price of $20 a month. For those of you unfamiliar with the company, Peach Direct offers consumers the opportunity to have things they can't afford by making payments for the rest of their lives (or until the item is paid off)
It is a pretty cool deal and any extra exposure for the PS3 I am down with. But really, if we are talking about gamers who can't afford the system, I doubt they'll want to commit to paying 20 bucks for at least the next 30 months. But who knows this could be a hit.
Something else for your hand to do
The other day I wondered into my local Gamestop and had a look around (as is my custom on Saturdays after my hour long bath listening to Celine Dion). Anyway, as I am glancing through the used PSP titles, I notice a big sign on the wall SONY PSP 169.99! I thought it may be some special so I checked with the managers. Nope, Sony, out of the goodness of their hearts gave us all an Easter surprise. A permanent drop in the price of the PSP!
This really is awesome news. Sony has been quietly adding new titles and upgrading the PSP and now to have the price drop, it could really help to bump up sales on an already successful system. Now if we could just drop the price on that pesky PS3.
Lets go shopping!
Now that the entire world has access to the most powerful gaming system known to man, Sony is giving you the chance to go shopping! Yep, the gaming icon has added some much needed content to their Playstation Store.
Some of these new items include an all new version of Grand Turismo HD concept complete with online leader boards, new movie trailers, a brand new game trailer for the much ballyhooed Grand Theft Auto IV, game demos and more.
Well, it's about time we see some new content in the store. Now that the world has the hardware, its time for Sony to show us what it can do. I am very excited at the possibilities. With all the launches out of the way its time to get down to business!
New Releases
Umm…hehehe…play your old games, I guess.
Survey of the week
With the price drop of the PSP how many of you will buy one now?
So it looks like a tie between Grey Fox and Liquid Snake. Both are excellent choices, if I had to go with one though I'd have to say Grey Fox would edge it out just a bit. But I would love to see both.
I'd really love to see the dynamic between Grey Fox and Snake in whatever game they do make. Looks like all of you think that Solidus sucks, can't say that I disagree with you there. No need to explore this old bastards back-story.
Bargain Bin
Looking for some wild abusive action and some killer fatalities, but with a good story? Well this is the title for you. Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks chronicles the time after the original Mortal Kombat. You take control of Lui Kang and Kung Lao as you travel through various realms in search of Shang Tsung.
The game centers on team combat as you and a buddy battle hoards of enemies and dispatch of them in violent ways. As you travel you'll run into other characters from the game and learn a good deal about the world of Mortal Kombat.
The action in this game is fast paced and fun. The developers did a great job translating the fighter into an action adventure title. Filled with action and a great story to boot, Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks makes a deadly edition to the bargain bin.

Here's a look at F.E.A.R. for the PS3 coming out at the end of the month. Prepare to cry and wet yourself.
Pictures for Ashish
For those who missed it last week, ASHISH POSTED MY PIC!!! Now I got to make sure I keep up the solid visuals. After all I have an image to maintain around here.
I have scoured the web yet again and I believe I have found an image worth the top slot. If sex sells then, violence sells out! Here it is, avert your eyes children!
This is a character from Aero Fighters 2 for the NeoGeo. No name was given but I can only assume by that angry face and the hardcore punk rock attitude that it is Avril Lavigne in her formative years.
I don't want to cram pimpage
Damian takes a look at one of the many negative stereotypes about gamers in Angry Gaming.
Mr. Holier than thou is back with another edition of Nintendophiles In it, he has a big picture of Candice Michelle's boobies. Very classy, oh and some resident evil remake something.
