The Unique Slider Puzzle Is Now Touch Sensitive!
Platform: iPhone
Developer: Resolute Games Corp.
The iPhone’s App store is chock full of hundreds of games and applications that allow you to do pretty much…well, anything. That commercial that says “Yea, there’s an app for that,” is pretty spot on. One of the more exciting casual games to come across the App Store is Segment. If you’ve played any sort of game which involves you reassembling a jumbled picture by sliding squares around, then you know the drill.
The gameplay of Segment is very straightforward; put your chosen picture back in order by sliding the appropriate pieces around. What set Segment apart is the Rumble Countdown. If the countdown reaches zero, a section of your uncompleted puzzle will be scrambled up. So if you get close to finishing a puzzle and then get hit with a rumble, you had better get back to work!
One of the unique features of Segment is that the game allows players to use their own photos from the iPhone’s camera roll. It’s a fun feature to ensure that you’ll never play the same game twice since you can literally use any image you want. One of the other nice features of Segment is that the game includes a couple photos for you to use, so you won’t need to use your own pictures if you don’t want to. After completing a puzzle, you’ll be awarded a medal which will be saved to your camera roll for you to show off. Think of the medals as achievements much like an Xbox 360 game. It’s a fun touch to a simple game that keeps the replay value quite high for Segment.
The sound effects and music in Segment are perfect for the type of game it is. The background music is very mellow and low key. When sliding the blocks to complete your puzzle, the sound effects are mellow and fit with the music. Some games tend to get in your face with their musical scores and effects, but Segment doesn’t invade your ears with anything offensive.
All in all, Segment is a fun puzzler that will keep you entertained for quite some time. If you need to spend time with a game while waiting for a train or on your lunch break, this is the one to do it. Segment is easy to play, enjoyable, and has limitless possibilities in terms of puzzles.
