GDC: New system for "emerging markets" to be supported totally through digital distribution
The console market is about to get even more crowded…in a few countries, at least. Mobile giant Qualcomm announced that they have developed a new system for emerging markets like Brazil, Mexico, and India. Unveiled at the recent Game Developer's Conference, the Zeebo is unique in that it will be supported solely through digital distribution. The machine will feature a Qualcomm chipset with 1GB of Flash memory and a 3G modem for downloads and updates.
Pricing, release date, and where exactly the Zeebo will be available are still up in the air.
