Free Online Military FPS Launches
Posted by Alexandra Pusateri on 04.17.2009

Wicked Interactive and G4BOX launched Cross Fire, a free online military FPS, for the PC yesterday. The official launch is accompanied by an update to the game, allowing playable female soldiers, three new game modes, and ranked clan matches on dedicated servers. With the launch, Cross Fire also features an increase of experience gained until April 20th. There are also brand new in-game items, weapons, and accessories.

Players can be one a Black List or Global Risk mercenary and join their respective teams to complete objectives and missions. A style of play signature to Cross Fire, called "Ghost Mode," puts top-secret cloaking devices in the hands of one of the teams, making them invisible. The "ghosts" are given only knives and must use stealth to track the opposing team down.

Cross Fire is free to download and play and officially went live April 16th. Visit the Cross Fire homepage for more information.

I don't like these kinds of games where it's free to play, but you have to spend money on items to be able to hold your own.

If anybody is interested in a unpretentious, 100% free to play game, Quake Live is in public beta right now.
