The young Chicago Blackhawks forward honored in the next iteration of the franchise.
EA today named Patrick Kane as the cover athlete for NHL 10. Kane won the Calder trophy for rookie of the year in 2008 and led the Blackhawks to the Western Conference Finals this year against Detroit. He has registered over 20 goals and 70 points in each of his two years in the NHL. He is the youngest athlete to ever grace the cover of the NHL franchise of games.
"It's exciting to be on the cover of my favorite videogame after playing just my second year as a professional," said Kane. "When you look back at some of the great players who have had this opportunity, it's an honor to be a part of the EA SPORTS family and contribute to a game I've been playing for more than 10 years."
EA also announced that the expected top draft pick in the 2009 entry draft John Tavares will have a major role in promoting the release of NHL 10. He had this to say: "It's exciting for me to team up with Patrick to promote EA SPORTS and get the chance to play NHL 10 before it's in stores," said Tavares. "Now I'm looking forward to the draft and finding out which team will select me."
