Microsoft Responds to Advertising Concerns
Posted by Joe Richardson on 07.02.2009

X-Box Live's Larry Hyrb stated today that the upcoming incorporation of Silverlight advertisements to X-Box Live will not interfere with gameplay.

"I've seen quite a bit of discussion today about how we're bringing Silverlight ads to LIVE in the future... I need to let you know that you don't need to worry about a huge influx of ads across the dashboard. One of our core principles is to enhance, not interfere with the gaming experience, and we work directly with our partners to only deliver experiences that are relevant to the Live community." Hyrb said.

Microsoft recently revealed that they would be incorporating ads into its Live service via Silverlight, which they say will produce results akin to Adobe Flash. They also stated that the ads will look similar to web advertisements, and that they will become an organic part of the dashboard... time will tell.

Money Hungry... people pay for online use and you're putting advertisements up? Backlash should be coming, but 360 fans like to pay to play.

I like to pay for the massive ammounts and types of entertainment available on XBL, PS3 can't touch it. I like to pay for the community of other users and the social networking(soon to include Facebook and Twitter), PS3 can't touch it. I like to pay to play because I like to play other games...not just Call of Duty. I like to pay for all the other features like game demos, exclusive content, videos like Netflix, like 1 vs 100, and on and on.

PS3 may have an edge in technology thats debatable, but the PS3 can't even dream about competing with Xbox Live.

So yes XBox "fanboys" like to "pay to play" because XBox Live is much, much better to what Sony calls thier pathetic online service.

I'm sure it's a lot better than whining about free lag service
