With Madden 10 a little more than a month away, EA Sports has released the AFC North team rankings. Taking into consideration players teams have acquired and other changes made, the ranking show how the overall team will be, along with individual players.
As can be expected from the AFC North, the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking good in that division with a team ranking of 92. Their defense is still No. 1, led by Troy Polamalu, who has an overall ranking of 99. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger comes to the game with an overall ranking of 93, which jumps to a 97 when he is passing on the run.
Next up from the North are the Baltimore Ravens with a team ranking of 82. The Ravens are led by Ed Reed, who has an overall ranking of 99, with a 97 ranking in zone defense. While Joe Flacco is only an 81 overall, Derrick Mason (88 overall), Willis McGahee (83 overall) and Ray Rice (78 overall) will still be there for the catches.
Over in Cleveland, the Browns come in with a 68 team ranking. It is basically a tossup between Brady Quinn (71 overall) and Derek Anderson (70 overall) at the quarterback spot. However, the bright spots on offense look to be Jamal Lewis (85 overall) and Braylon Edwards (86 overall). Shaun Rogers leads the defense, with a 95 overall and a 98 power move.
Finally, not even Chad Ochocinco can help the Cincinnati Bengals from coming in last in the division with a 67 team ranking. His 88 overall ranking helps the team, no doubt about that, as does Laveranues Coles 87 overall ranking, but there is not much more to the team after that. Quarterback Carson Palmer (88 overall) will need more support for his 30th ranked offensive line if the Bengals want to make a run for the Super Bowl in Madden.
The full list can be seen over at the Madden 10 Season Preview. On August 3, Madden 10 will finally predict the 2009 NFL division winners, as well as the season MVP and more.
Wow, the Bengals' offense and defense performs better the last six weeks of the season last year than the Browns, they have a better draft, and don't lose anybody significant in free agency (or legal issues) that wasn't replaced (they lost TJ but got Coles), yet the Browns are ranked higher? Weird, just weird. And if you go to that site, they talk about Pittsburgh's 3-4 defense, "which means they have 4 linebackers on the field AT ALL TIMES" (emphasis mine). That's just blatantly untrue. Yes, they have 4 linebackers on the field for 80-90% of their defensive snaps, but they do give opponents a lot of different looks. I wish they had more people who actually WATCHED football working on this game - then maybe they could finally surpass NFL 2k5 in something other than graphics.

I agree with everything you said Wyatt except the 2K5 part. People stop comparing it to your 2K5. Was it a great game? Hell Yes! But give up the 2K arguement already.
