Modern Warfare and Halo 3 Still Not Quite Feeling This 'HD era'
Posted by Drew Robbins on 08.01.2009

I think we can all agree that Modern Warfare was a very good looking game, as was Halo 3, but you know, something wasn't there. Even with all of this hype around HD visuals this generation, Modern Warfare and Halo 3 still weren't achieving anything around the 1080p visuals that many crave on the Xbox 360. In fact, neither even reached 720p, a pretty standard achievement these days.

The first Modern Warfare netted somewhere around 600p visuals, and those expecting any better will be sorely disappointed to find out that the sequel be in the same ballpark. Same goes for Halo 3 ODST, sticking to similar resolutions found in Halo 3.

Of course, you have to consider Modern Warfare 2 is aiming for 60 Frames-per-second, something most other games fail to achieve in their attempt at jaw-dropping visuals.

In light of this announcement, Infinity Ward would like to remind everyone that this game is still going to be awesome.

Psst... PC gaming has been "HD" long before consoles have :)

I don't mind a sub-HD internal resolution, so long as the final product doesn't look soft as a result. Both Haze and MGS4 rendered lower than they output, but only one looked it. I don't remember anyone complaining about the first Modern Warfare, so the sequel should be fine.

There is no doubt in my mind that MW2 will be completly and utterly beautiful.

I'd rather have 600p graphics with amazing gameplay. Then 1080p and shitty game play. Game play to me is 75% of the game.
