Valve undecided amidst continued controversy.
Valve's upcoming downloadable campaign for Left 4 Dead caused a bit of an uproar especially after the upcoming sequel was announced so soon. It has left people wondering whether or not the new DLC will be compatible with the sequel.
Valve's Chet Faliszek explained that everyone including the games developers are unsure whether the new campaign will be compatible for the sequel. Faliszek commented that Valve is trying to figure out if the story elements would work with the cast from the new game. He says it would be jarring to "put new characters in old places," but recognizes that "there's a whole group of the fans who don't care."
The downloadable campaign, entitled"Crash Course", is slated for a September release for 560 Microsoft Points will be available as a free download on PC.
Considering how uncommon for an older console game's DLC to be compatible with a sequel, I'm not exactly sure what the big deal. Plus, I know the original had only 4 maps and was a bit limited as a single player experience, but the online action offered hours of excellent co-op gameplay. It still made for an excellent game.
So what are your thoughts on the latest Left 4 Dead controversy?
