Microsoft Aiming to Punish Shadow Complex Cheaters
Posted by Drew Robbins on 09.16.2009

Shadow Complex was a pretty big hit when it hit the Xbox Live Arcade last month, and apparently, it was a pretty big hit with cheaters, as well. Chair Entertainment, the company behind Shadow Complex, is not too happy with this and is seeking punishment from Microsoft to be distributed to all offending parties.

As it turns out, many players have been adding to their kill count or shaving minutes off of their completion time, boosting them up through the ranks of the leader board. Players who have been found to do this will be instantly removed from the leader boards, and depending on the results from Microsoft's inspection of their account, their entire gamerscore could be reset. Ouch.

If only all games did this (I know 3rd party issues...). Gotta love the top of the Modern Warfare boards where the top kill:shot ratios are like 5000%

whats the point of cheating in an online game? Do they go around showing off that they are the best in COD? Do they use that as a pick up line?...nobody cares. Get a life and go outside, do something constructive.

I saw one example of this in Rock Band 2's Battle of the Bands mode. Someone was topping one of the leaderboards with roughly 18,500 stars, which is clearly impossible over two or three songs.

I agree, but have you heard these dorks online? These losers take that shit seriously. Most likely kill themselves if the gamerscore was reset
