Cyberbike Trailer for Nintendo Wii
Posted by Scott J. Simpson on 10.14.2009

Is it me, or is the Nintendo Wii becoming more of an exercise machine rather than a video game system? Every time I turn around there seems to be a new exercise game out for the Wii along with some sort of crazy accessory that goes along with it; there's the balance board, dumbbells and now a bicycle.

Scheduled for a release in January, European publisher Bigben Interactive has created a new exercise gadget for the Wii called Cyberbike, a fully function exercise bike for Nintendo's console.

The Cyberbike, comes packed with 18 different courses that require the player to clean up pollution by riding a bicycle on land, a submarine in the ocean and a helicopter-like vehicle in the air. In addition to the 18 courses that come packed with the bike peripheral, Cyberbike is also apparently compatible with Mario Kart, so at least there's something else the bike can be used for. Plus the Cyberbike also features multiplayer support, so you can exercise and play games with a buddy at the same time.

Although the gimmick of an exercise bike may seem kind of hokey, the trailer actually makes the accessory look kind of fun. It almost reminds me of the good ‘old days when I used to hop on top of a fake plastic motorcycle at the arcade and race my way to the finish line. Wait a tic! Could you imagine if they made Road Rash for the Cyberbike? That would be awesome. You and a friend could be on your Cyberbikes in your living room, racing one another in Road Rash, and you could even use your Wii Remotes to club one another and knock each other of the bikes! I would love to see that happen, but I highly doubt it will (sniff).

Even though Cyberbike: Road Rash will probably never see the light of day, you can check out the trailer below to see what the Cyberbike looks like in action.
