Even though the financial reports are not good.
During EA's financial conference call yesterday CEO John Riccitiello revealed that the company slashed 17% of its workforce and cut over a dozen unannounced projects that were deemed unprofitable. This announcement does not appear to signal the end of EA taking risks and trying new IP as Riccitiello claimed "EA remains committed to delivering high quality games (established and new IPs), but will do so with an eye on operational efficiency and growing the direct gaming sector." During the call the company announced plans to revitalize its core franchises, pointing to the successful relaunch of Need for Speed and continuing the rebuild the Medal of Honor series.
