Xbox Live Dashboard Update Coming Next Week
Posted by Adam Larck on 11.13.2009

For people who got into the Xbox Live Dashboard Update beta, they've had the new update for the past few weeks. However, everyone will have it next Tuesday.

Nov. 17 will allow Xbox 360 owners to try out Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm and Zune video for themselves.

"We're delivering some truly exciting social entertainment experiences to our members," said Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten. "Xbox LIVE's differentiator has always been our community, and we've already seen a tremendous response to these features in our public preview. It's the community that drives us forward and allows us to pioneer new ways of connecting people through the entertainment they love."

Facebook and Twitter will allow you to check friend's statuses and update your own. Facebook will also allow photos to be viewed as well. The Zune video channel allows for downloading of 1080p videos that will instantly stream. The Last.fm channel will let players listen to some music by their favorite artist and other artist that sound similar to them.

Also, a News and More feed will be added to the Inside Xbox channel that will stream content from MSNBC, The New Yorker and Dilbert.

"From the launch of Xbox LIVE nearly seven years ago, to milestones like Video Marketplace, Netflix and the New Xbox Experience, we've continued working toward our vision of connected entertainment for everyone," Whitten said. "I'm proud to say that next week marks another great stride in fulfilling that promise, and we're already imagining what the future has in store."
