Modern Warfare 2 Leaderboards Reveal Quick Growth
Posted by Rod Oracheski on 11.15.2009

With record-setting sales already in the books, Modern Warfare 2's online community continues to grow according to leaderboard data.

Two checks, 10 minutes apart, were run using a 'clean' Gamertag on an Xbox 360 to find the bottom of the leaderboard's Global tracking for Accuracy. After a 30-minute wait, the checks were duplicated.

In both cases, the leaderboard jumped by approximately 600 players (598 and 605, respectively) in the 10-minute span between checks - effectively adding a new player every second.

Can that growth continue? 411mania will check back later to see what the leaderboards are saying.

Incidentally, the total number of players at the end of the testing? 3,859,864.

How many were multiple accounts from the same console? Heck, my 360 has about 4 accounts for 3 other people... Since there are too many variables, I guess you can call it science fiction....

To register in the online leaderboards they'd have to be Gold accounts. If they are then why shouldn't they be counted as different people playing?

You need to mod the firmware first to get on live.
