Activision Planning "Aggressive Expansion" For Call of Duty Series
Posted by Ashish on 11.18.2009

With the massive success of Modern Warfare 2, it's not surprising that Activision has apparently added a third development team. The LA Times reports that the company has "aggressive expansion plans" for the Call of Duty series and needed the extra third team. Activision currently has two development teams -- Treyarch and Infinity Ward. Treyarch is working on the next Call of Duty game, rumored to be set in World War II. Infinity Ward did Modern Warfare 2. No word exactly on how the third team will factor in.

Activision is coming down with serious SNK Syndrome. Shoving the same game down our throats until we're sick of them and beg for something new.

Call of Duty is only good when Infinity Ward does it everything else is MEH

Please Activison, has much as I love the WW2 genre games, it's time to focus on another era. How bout the Korean War? I have yet to see a game for that war. Very little has the Vietnam War has been focused on. The current war hasn't been touched at all except for "Six Days in Faliujah(Sp)" However, we see how people are a bunch of p***ies when it comes to the Iraqi War. Saying that games glorify the war.

Activision, you're treading some deep waters that others may not want to tread with you...

Activision doesn't have an overkill button...just look at the GH franchise...

However, if Blizzard is that third developer...things may get VERY interesting...

On one hand, I'm glad that Infinity Ward hasn't been pushed down the Bullfrog/Origin/Westwood path. On the other hand, I prefer not to see such an important series farmed out to some reserve grade development teams.

Mr. Mack, I'm sure I remember a period during the PS2 days where there were a number of Vietnam War based games. I can understand them being forgotten due to the fact that seemingly nobody could make a GOOD Vietnam War game. Guerrilla certainly didn't with Shellshock.
