Sports Authority Forms Partnership with Nintendo

Expect to see Wii systems and fitness trainers at Sports Authority stores across the country…
The Wii is no longer a gaming system sold exclusively at electronic retailers, instead, you'll now be able to pick up Nintendo's little white console at your local sporting goods store.
Today kicks off Sports Authority's newfound partnership with Nintendo, with the two companies joining together to promote fitness and fun.
So what does this partnership necessarily mean? Well, for starters, Sports Authority stores across the US are now starting to sell the Wii, Wii Fit Plus, and various accessories and games for Nintendo's console. But there's more to it than just selling video games. Sports Authority is creating a "We know fit. We know fun." experience to educate customers about the benefits of Wii Fit Plus via an interactive fitness area complete with live demos of Wii Fit Plus and fitness trainers. Yes, you read that correctly. Sports Authority now allows customers to demo Wii Fit Plus in their stores with the assistance of a real fitness trainer.
And in order to celebrate its collaboration with Nintendo, Sports Authority is hosting "The World's Largest Wii Fit Plus Demonstration" today at its location in Torrance, California.
Fitness trainer Jillian Michaels will also be on hand at the event to promote her new game Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2010.
The "We know fit. We know fun." experience is now available at 102 select Sports Authority stores across the nation. The rest of the stores will feature the fitness experience center in Spring 2010.
