No Wii HD For The Foreseeable Future

So says Reggie
According to IGN.com, Nintendo has no plans for a new console for 'far into the future'. Nintendo head Reggie Fils-Aime debunked growing rumors that Nintendo had plans for an HD update to the Wii by stating that any new consoles from the company are a long ways off.
Most of the rumors stemmed from industry figures that placed a new console, or an HD version of the Wii available within the next couple years.
"The way we at Nintendo do things is, you know, when we will move to a new generation, it's because there are some fundamental things the [current] console cannot do," said Fils-Aime, "What that says is that simply the addition of HD capability will not be the next step for us. There will be more to it. There will be additional capability. There will be additional elements, and, given that, it is far into the future."

Reggie is just the mouthpiece for Nintendo of AMERICA and isn't going to shed any light on what Nintendo of Japan is cooking up.

Most of those were just new sku's of the same hardware, Wii HD wouldn't be the same hardware as Wii that's why its not coming, look at GBA to DS, big change, between the two, much more than just better graphics, look at GCN to Wii, big change, the next system will need its own big change before its launches.
