China Imposing Even Stricter Regulations on Online Gaming
Posted by Lee Price on 11.20.2009

The Chinese government have recently called upon developers to ensure their online games don't contain content that would be considered "obscene or violent", preferring instead to have them enhance socialism, or at least the Chinese government's idea of socialism.

China's Ministry of Culture has recommended that developers hire specialists to aid them in this task, and it is thought that most developers will comply with the demand. This possibly has something to do with the fact that the Chinese online gaming industry is thought to be worth an estimated $3.5 - 4 billion by the end of the year, so its entirely likely that developers will be willing to sacrifice any artistic vision their products have to reap the rewards of one of the fastest expanding online markets in the world.
