Network will allow for downloading in-game content.
It seems Mass Effect 2 is the latest game from BioWare that will have a new game incentive.
People purchasing a new copy of Mass Effect 2 will receive a code that unlocks The Cerberus Network inside the game. The Network will be updated with daily messages and news about Mass Effect 2, as well as bonus content for the game.
"The Cerberus Network augments and extends the rich universe of Mass Effect 2," said Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder, BioWare and Group General Manager of the RPG/MMO Group of EA. "We're thrilled to be able to reward loyal BioWare and Mass Effect fans with ongoing, high quality content and provide a direct channel for our players to dive deeper into the intriguing lore of Mass Effect."
The first content for the game will release on Jan. 26, and will include new missions and in-game items. The pack will also introduce Zaeed, who will join Commander Shepard. Later packs will include a new hover tank called the Hammerhead, along with more new missions and in-game items. These items include the Cerberus Assault Armor which will boost shields, health and heavy ammo, and the M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun.
For players who still insist on getting a secondhand copy of the game, The Cerberus Network can be bought online for a fee that hasn't been announced.
