Game passes a major milestone...
The sales march continues for New Super Mario Bros. Wii in Japan, as it recently broke the 3 million unit mark in the Land of the Rising Sun.
As of January 17, sales for the game were at 3,002,753 units. It took Wii Fit and Wii Sports over a year to reach that mark. It has a way to go to beat its older yet smaller DS brother, which has sold over five million units to date and is the best-selling DS game of all time in Japan. It's also still in the top 2 on the Wii charts in most weeks.
The promotional push for the game is not going to stop any time soon, as Nintendo is about to host a tournament to determine the top coin collector in Japan.
