Mass Effect 2 Contains 2 Discs
Posted by Adam Larck on 01.25.2010

With Mass Effect 2 less than 12 hours away from release (depending on where you live), it has been revealed today how the disc swapping will work in the game.

There will be only two discs for the game. However, the first disc will need to be switched a third of the way through. After playing the middle section, the disc then gets switched to the first disc to finish the game up.

"The decision was made due to the nature of having to go to two discs for what is a non-linear game and fitting the right amount of content onto each of the discs," BioWare's Jessie Houston said to IGN. "This way players won't have to swap their discs multiple times during the middle of the game."

Even installing both discs to the hard drive won't fix this, as the game will still ask for the disc during the appropriate times to switch.
