BioWare To SDTV Owners: Ah Well!
Posted by Chris Lansdell on 02.05.2010

Are you having trouble reading the text in Mass Effect 2? Well, you're going to have to put up the cash for a HDTV, or shut up.

BioWare said today on its official forums that they will not be issuing a patch for SDTV gamers, who are the ones having the problems with the text.

"We understand that on some Standard Definition TVs the smallest text in Mass Effect 2 can be difficult to read. While this was not an intentional result, it was a byproduct of enhancements to the user interface. After investigating potential solutions, we have determined that while this issue does affect a small portion of SDTV owners, we are unable to resolve it for Mass Effect 2 through a title update. However, we have taken note of this issue and will take it into consideration as we plan future games in the Mass Effect franchise."

Good. No one should be playing a 360 or a PS3 on SDTV. I don't have an HDTV, but I do have Mass Effect 2 for PC. We live in a new age people. Get with the times.

Dead Rising is RIDICULOUSLY hard to read for the same reason. But it's a shame that such a large-scale title like ME2 would brush off SDTV owners.

Even on my HD TV, the text is damn near impossible to read. Its awesome game, plus most of what is in the text is unnecessary. The important stuff is revealed in the talking parts anyway.

Well, I have no problem since I own two HDTVs (32" Sharp and a 42" LG...both 1080p). It is 2010, you should have a HDTV by now...right?

who plays games on an sdtv in 2010? Why don't we complain that our black & white tvs stop us from solving color based puzzles?

Everyone should be able to get an HDTV during the prosperous economic times we live in. Oh wait.

I can read it just fine on my good old 19" SDTV. People are bitching just to bitch.

Now, Banjo/Kazooie N&B had SMALL text. ME2's problem is no where near that bad.
