Netflix Says Lack of HD on Wii Is No Big Deal

VP thinks it's really no loss...
Netflix is so anxious to come to the Wii that the company is downplaying the lack of HD support on the console. A recent interview with Netflix VP of Corporate Communications Steve Swasey agreeing with the sentiment expressed by Nintendo and even many Wii owners. "The vast majority of content that is available for streaming through Netflix is not HD content. So, there is really no loss for the Wii consumer." Swasey adds that the company doesn't think it is "a deterrent for Wii families."
While that sounds very similar to Rigge Fils-Aime's comments on the matter, Swasey went even further. "PS3 and Xbox users have 1 in 17 titles available in HD, and it's streamed in 720," he said. "It's not in 1080, and it's not in 5.1 surround sound or anything. So the HD experience at Netflix Instant Watching isn't that overwhelming. It's a little bit underwhelming. So the Wii folks aren't going to miss that much."
What do you think, Wii owners? Will you be going for this?
I'll use it because I already have Netflix and it'll likely be for another TV in the house.

If I was a Netflix PR man, I wouldn't be talking down our other services to promote the new one.

I have Netflix on X-Box. I want it for Wii. But, without HD support, I think it's useless. I have many HD movies in my instant queue. Oh well, time for a Roku box.
