Konami Announces Foto Showdown for DSi
Posted by Scott J. Simpson on 03.11.2010

Have you ever played Pokémon Snap and wished you could have taken your snapshots of those cuddly pocket monsters and turned them into dueling beasts? Well, if you're like me, you'll be screaming at your computer with a resounding, "YES!" Unfortunately Pokémon Snap has come and gone, but that doesn't mean you won't be able to turn photographs into monsters you can duel with friends and family.

Tuesday, Konami announced Foto Showdown for Nintendo DSi, an RPG where players use the DSi's camera to take photos of their environment, and turn those pictures into gameplay elements.

By utilizing advanced color recognition, Foto Showdown can spawn monsters based on the dominant colors in the photos players capture with their DSi. Players can then battle their monsters in turned based duels to win cameras and unlock new levels and monsters.

The game contains over 100 levels and 152 different monsters, along with RPG elements such as upgrading powers, purchasing weapons and medicine, and experimenting with tools to make your monsters even stronger.

Plus players can connect wirelessly with friends and family in multiplayer duels, or simply trade monsters from one deck to the other.

Foto Showdown is available now for Nintendo DSi.
