Red Faction: Guerrilla 2 Releasing March 2011

GDC: Sequel to take place primarily underground.
It seems that Red Faction will be going back to its roots.
Red Faction: Guerrilla 2, announced to be coming out in March of 2011, will be a hybrid of all the titles in the series, according to Danny Bilson.
Bilson, THQ's executive VP of Core Games, said the game will still feature the destructibility from Guerrilla, but it will have bigger impact on closely built cities.
"The new game takes (Red Faction) to a whole new place, it kind of goes back to the old Red Faction because about 80% of it is underground," Bilson said.
He went on to add that even though Guerrilla didn't meet THQ's sales expectations, he felt the quality was too great to abandon the series entirely.
To generate more hype about the sequel, Bilson said the current strategy is to try to give away some copies of the game to let players experience what they may have missed out on. This promo has been used with owners of the Darksiders game, and a pre-order incentive for Metro 2033 on Steam.
"Giving away the stock now, on Red Faction, is getting more people exposed to the IP because we're going bigger on Red Faction next time," Bilson told us. "If the game wasn't so good, we wouldn't be giving it away at all."
Gurella was a excellent game. Folks, go grab a copy. It really was brilliant.

That is the most wonderful news I have heard. I been saying that RFG2 needed to underground mostly or in mountains with lots of buildings like RFG had as I loved that. Now I read that is what is going down in RFG2 and I had a minor heart attack.
Maybe a full scale heart attack can be in line when it is launched and the game gets something called "Advertising" done. NO ONE I know that has any clue what RFG is and that is just sad. I've had to educate everyone I know that I hadn't meet on RFG of course, what the heck RFG was. That is terrible when it is really such a great game all around.
