February NPD Sales Figures - Xbox 360, Bioshock 2 Big Winners
Posted by Chris Lansdell on 03.11.2010

Here are the February NPD sales numbers. We'll have detailed analysis this weekend.

Hardware

  1. Nintendo DS 613,200
  2. Xbox 360 422,000
  3. Wii 397,900
  4. PlayStation 3 360,100
  5. PSP 133,400
  6. PlayStation 2 101,900

The Wii drops below the 360 for the first time since before Christmas, with PS3 closing the gap too. The DS saw a big sales jump despite the DSi XL not being released in the month.

Software

  1. BioShock 2 (360) - 562,900
  2. New Super Mario Bros. Wii - 555,600
  3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (360) - 314,300
  4. Just Dance (Wii) - 275,400
  5. Wii Sport Resort w/ Motion Plus - 272,500
  6. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3) - 252,800
  7. Mass Effect 2 (360) - 246,500
  8. Dante's Inferno: Divine Edition (PS3) - 242.5K
  9. Dante's Inferno (360) - 224.7K
  10. Heavy Rain (PS3) - 219,000

New Super Mario Bros. sales remain strong, but Bioshock 2 managed to top it for first place this month. The drop-off to the rest of the list is significant, with Dante's Inferno being particularly disappointing.

I didn't realise selling 460,000 copies is a disappointment...

Yeah really, nearly half a mill....
And half of that was some sort of special edition, which i assume cost extra, so, really

The Divine Edition didnt cost extra. It did come with a few extra goodies but it's the only version released on the PS3 at launch.

Very Disappointed with ME2's numbers. And FINALLY, Mario Kart Wii is off the list!

Considering the money that was available to be spent based on the rest of the lest, and considering 4 of the games above it were released in November and on in July...yeah, you can bet they were hoping for more.
