Find out why the game is a full retail release inside.
Well, Gabe Newell from Valve has made a pretty bold statement.
While speaking with 1up, Newell was asked what he felt about Portal 2.
"Oh Portal 2's great," he said. "It's the best game we've ever done."
That's a big claim from the company that made Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress and more.
Newell also said that Portal 2 is a full size game because of feedback they got from the first game that let them know how to make the sequel big. He also addressed the eventual argument that will come up from fans thinking the game should be smaller.
"Well, I think that in any game... fans are super passionate, right," Newell said. "When we shipped Left 4 Dead and then came out with Left 4 Dead 2 a year later, you know a lot of people were excited, and then there were the people who decided, 'Something must be wrong; Valve must be turning to the dark side.' So I think you always have that challenge on your new games, explaining 'Why is it worth their time? Why is it worth their money? Why is it worth their passion?' And that's a case you have to make with every release you do."
Finally, Newell mentioned a bit about Jonathan Coulton, the writer of "Still Alive" in the first game. When asked if there would be a new song in this game, he laughed, saying Coulton's "brilliant."
