Lots of Walking Required to Unlock All the Pokewalker Secrets
Posted by Chris Lansdell on 03.15.2010
You will walk 500 miles and you will walk 500 more...
Gotta walk 'em all! As you should know by now, Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver both come with a Pokewalker, a nifty little device shaped like a Pokeball that tracks the distance you walk. The more you walk, the more you get rewarded in-game.
One other reward is that the Pokewalker unlocks new routes for you to walk with your Pokemon as you record more steps on the device. According to the Official Nintendo Magazine, you will need to walk 1000 miles to unlock them all. Better fire up some Proclaimers and get to marching!
Nintendos way of trying to rid the world of fat kids!
GREAT IDEA NINTENDO!
Seriously, this will just end up with kids shaking the ball to trick it into thinking they have been walking.

Does this mean Nintendo is the reason that Japans children have a lower obesity rate then the US?

I'd like one just to walk the miles and then sell it for a ton on ebay to some pokemon fiend.

What if you just put it in the car whenever you go for a drive, will that count as steps?

Shaking doesn't work...I tried. Somehow the infernal machine KNOWS! That being said, I walked 22000 steps today while taking my kids to the park. And Sandshrew gained one level.

Small cameras are built into them and they have a team of workers confirming any movement they make. It's creepy, but what do you expect- Nintendo is run by perverts. That's the Japanese for you.
Thankfully, much like in their porn, pubic areas are pixelated... so they can get a good idea of what's going on, but can't see the details.

I was about to suggest just shaking the damn thing like we used to do with Pocket Pikachu. Does it seriously know whether you're actually shaking the thing or not?
