Fils-Aime Says Wii MotionPlus has ‘Tremendous Support’
Posted by Adam Larck on 03.21.2010

After the big release of Wii MotionPlus with Wii Sports Resort, not much else has been out for the add-on.

However, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said in an interview with MTV Multiplayer that there is tremendous support for the Motion Plus.

"First, what it would highlight is that 'Wii Sports Resort' continues to sell exceptionally well," Fils-Aime said. "In addition to that you're seeing some fantastic third party support. 'Red Steel 2' ... about to come out. And from a first party perspective we showed 'Fling Smash.' There are more titles that are coming, it continues to be a core part of what we do."

Fils-Aime went on to defend not forcing the new device into new games coming out just to use it.

"I guess what's unique with Nintendo is we don't force our developers to stick to a particular type of control scheme, and you've seen that," he said. "Everything from the new 'Metroid' title to be single remote driven to 'Fling Smash' utilizing the Wii MotionPlus. So it's all about what's right for the game."

Besides Fling Smash, no other games have been announced that will support the MotionPlus. Will more be announced at E3? No one knows, but we'll let you know live as new releases get announced this June from the convention.

I believe Zelda has been confirmed to have Wii Motion support, and has been semi-confirmed for 2010. Hopefully, there will be more titles to use this. It's a pretty great peripheral.
