LittleBigPlanet 2 Officially Announced
Posted by Adam Larck on 05.10.2010

After being accidentally announced last week by Game Informer, LittleBigPlanet 2 has finally been officially announced by Sony today.

The game will feature new accessories and equipment for Sackboy, including a grappling hook, power gloves, a magic bag and more. Also, LBP 2 will feature a new storyline and revamped graphics engine.

"Since LittleBigPlanet launched, our online community has created an amazing selection of levels with the tools available," said Scott A. Steinberg, vice president of product marketing at SCEA. "With LittleBigPlanet 2, users will now have a new, evolved Create mode with the ability to make actual games, not just levels, providing an endless gaming adventure for fans, as well as an entertainment experience that can be enjoyed by the entire family."

Also, Sackbots, robotic Sackboys, will be able to be put into levels. These Sackbots will be programmable with animations, voice-overs and more, and the clothing and size will be able to be changed on each one.

Players will be able to keep creating levels as well. New levels that can be made are racing games, flying games, shooters and more. All of these levels can be enhanced by life meters, scoring and other elements that can be put into levels. Cut-scenes will also be able to be made to add to the story of these levels.

Plus, for people that have a favorite level in the original game, all levels from LBP will be able to be played in LBP 2.

Finally, the game will feature bonus levels that support the PlayStation Move as well. No word if players will be able to make levels that support the controller or not.

A release date has not been given for the game. However, a debut trailer has been released, showing off some of the new things that can be done in game. Check it out and let us know what else you want to see in the sequel.
