Modern Warfare 3 Retains Top Spot in January NPD

Skylanders breaks into top 10.



It should be no surprise with a slow gaming month, but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has retained the top spot in the January NPD list.

Overall, hardware and software sales were down 38 percent from last year. Sales dropped from $1.14 billion to $750 million. Keep in mind, last year had Dead Space 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2 during the month of January.

On the hardware side, the 360 has sold 270,000 units in the month, earning an overall market share of 49 percent.

On the software side, the list stayed relatively the same except for Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure making it to the No. 8 spot.
