Danica Patrick Hits Sonic & All-Stars Racing
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 10.10.2012

SEGA of America Inc. announced in an official press release today a new partnership with Mattel and their Hot Wheels brand for the Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed game. Gamers will now be able to play as Danica Patrick who will ride in a custom transforming electric green Hot Wheels vehicle. Her car wil be designed to navigate dynamic land, sea, and air environments.

In addition, the "Danicar" will also be available as an exclusive diecast toy vehicle this holiday season with the purchase of the Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed at select retailers.

Marcella Churchill, Senior Director of Marketing at SEGA of America says:"Using Danica Patrick's existing relationship with Mattel and Hot Wheels, we were able to extend our brand beyond the Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed game universe and into consumer products with the creation of this custom toy. The Hot Wheels brand has a reputation for developing beloved childhood toys and our partnership will undoubtedly ignite this nostalgia amongst fans when they get to race this transforming vehicle within the game."

Matt Petersen, the Vice President of North America Boys and Games Marketing at Mattel stated: "We are incredibly excited to link two iconic brands like Hot Wheels and SEGA's Sonic the Hedgehog together for the first time. The new ‘Danicar' is a unique vehicle that combines style elements from Danica Patrick and Sonic the Hedgehog with the outrageous design that Hot Wheels is known for – resulting in an in-game vehicle and diecast toy that all of our fans will love."

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be released on November 18, 2013 on the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U. The game will also be released for the PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS on December 11. The game will be available on Windows PC via digital download during the holiday season.
