Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Expected To Get More Money Than Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2's Opening Weekend
Posted by Joseph Lee on 11.13.2012

Zap2It reports that Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops II could end up making more in its debut week than The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2's opening weekend. Black Ops 2 was released today while Twilight hits theaters on Thursday night.

The gaming industry has had an increase in sales thanks to last week's Halo 4 (which made $220 million in its first 24 hours and will likely get $300 million in its first week) and this week's Black Ops 2. Even Halo 4, with its impressive numbers, doesn't come close to the record holder: Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The Call of Duty franchise has just as many die-hard fans as Twilight does, if not more so. The first Black Ops game made over $650 million worldwide in the first five days it was released in 2010. Compare this to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, which made $705 million during its entire run ($290 million opening weekend). The numbers are about even with the rest of the series, except the first film which opened smaller.
