Black Ops 2 Continues Dominance in December NPDs
Posted by Adam Larck on 01.11.2013

Even Far Cry 3 couldn't slow down Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 in December.

BlOps 2 remained at the top of the list of the December NPD numbers. Meanwhile, FC3 finished in sixth, although it still had the second-most successful December launch since the NPD started recording the numbers in 1995. Besides that, most of the other titles on the Top 10 were similar to November, and can be seen below.

Also seen below are the top 10 games of 2012, with BlOps 2 leading the way, followed by Madden NFL 13 and Halo 4. On a personal high note for me, Borderlands 2 finished seventh.

Overall, software sales in December were down 22 percent from last year, which is also how much the year was down. December brought in $3.2 billion, while final software sales finished at $13.26 billion.

Hardware sales were down 20 percent in 2012, finishing at $4.04 billion. However, the NPD group noted the decline was mostly in non-HD system sales.

The 360 continued to hold the top spot with 1.4 million units sold, while the Wii U sold fewer units than the Wii did during its launch. However, the Wii U did earn 3 percent more in money than the Wii thanks to its higher price point.

You can see the December list and best of 2012 list below.
