Microsoft Buys 'Xbone' Domain After Calling It 'Distasteful'

They don't like the nickname...
Fusible reports that Microsoft purchased the domain name Xbone.com, in reference to a distasteful nickname fans and gamers have given the Xbox One console.
Earlier in the week, Microsoft Director of Programming for Xbox Live, Larry Hyrb, gave his thoughts on the nickname on the NeoGaf forums. Hryb wrote, "I don't like it...it disrespects the teams that have put in thousands of hours (already) into the development of the product. Sure, it's cheeky but I don't care for it myself."
Its possible Microsoft purchased the Xbone.com domain from its previous owner for an unknown monetary amount. It's likely the recent buzz online over the nickname likely raised the value of the domain. A domain dispute was never filed by Microsoft against the previous owner. One imagines Microsoft purchased the domain in order to prevent it from being used against them and to try and stem the flow of the nickname online.
