Former Nintendo president passes on...
TMZ reports that former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi passed away this morning at a hospital in Japan due to pneumonia.
He introduced the Nintendo Entertainment System to America in 1985, followed by Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda and Donkey Kong. He left the company in 2002 but would not accept a retirement pension of $9 to $14 million dollars, claiming Nintendo could use the money better. He was estimated to be worth $2.1 billion and was the thirteenth richest man in Japan at the time of his death.
He was 85 when he died and is survived by his wife and three kids. 411 would like to give our condolences to his friends and family.
