Konami Digital Entertainment announced today release details for the upcoming Metal Solid V two-game experience which will be made up by Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Ground Zeroes is due out in Spring 2014 and will serve as the prologue to the events of The Phantom Pain. MGS V: Ground Zeroes will feature a new game design, day and night cycles, and weather conditions that will dynamically affect the gameplay. According to Konami, the missions will ease players into the new controls and gameplay that will be a part of The Phantom Pain.
The story follows Big Boss as he infiltrates a Cuban prison camp on a rescue mission and tries to remain undetected. Soon Big Boss finds himself behind enemy lines with few options for help.
The Phantom Pain picks up where Zeroes will leave off. The game will drop players into an open-world environment.
Both games will be released on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid Series, said on the releases: "The advanced capabilities of the FOX Engine are allowing me to express the story of METAL GEAR SOLID in a new way. There will be a significant difference in what METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game offers. As such, METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES has been designed to introduce key elements, while setting up the events of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN."
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be hitting first in Spring 2014 on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One consoles. The game will be available for the suggested retail price on current generation consoles for $29.99 or via download for $19.99.
