Titanfall Developers Say Snipers Won't Be Able to Cheat
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 12.30.2013

If you've played multiplayer shooters before, you know that one of the most frustrating things about them are the snipers. Modern console shooters are rife with instances of "quick scoping"--bringing your scope up and relying on auto-aim to do the harder work--and "no scoping" which is firing without aiming at all, allowing the heavy power level of the gun to compensate for your general inaccuracy. However, Titanfall says that while sniping will be in the game, quick-scoping and no-scoping won't be something players can rely on.

A Respawn rep discussed the issue in the forums for the game, saying, "Sniping is in the game, but due to how the game plays it's a pretty different animal than you'll find in your run of the mill modern military shooter. Quick scoping and no scoping are ineffective."

It isn't known how these tactics will be counterbalanced yet, but for anyone who has ever felt the frustration of snipers firing off a multitude of quick shots, this will be a relief. The game releases for PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on March 11th, 2014.
