Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry to be Released as Standalone Game for PS3, PS4, and PC
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 02.05.2014

Ubisoft announced today that Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry will be released as a standalone downloadable game exclusively for the PS4 and PS3 consoles and also Windows PC. The downloadable game version of Freedom Cry will be released for the PS3 and PS4 for $14.99 on February 18. It will also be available for the PC on February 25 for $14.99.

Freedom Cry was originally released as add-on DLC for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The standalone version will not require an earlier purchase of Assassin's Creed IV, though.

Tony Key, senior ice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft stated: "We decided to release Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry as a stand-alone game for both fans and newcomers to the Assassin's Creed universe. Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry delivers key elements of an Assassin's Creed game, including a new hero, new environments and new weapons."

The story follows Adewale, a man born into slavery who later becomes a pirate and then a trained Assassin. You can check out the official Freedom Cry announcement trailer in the player below:
