Bungie Gives Details on Destiny Character Customization
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 03.23.2014

Bungie has provided new information on the expansive character customization in their upcoming game Destiny. The company's technical art lead Scott Shepherd discussed the customization system at GDC on Friday (via Polygon and said that they will be including a lot of different skins, armor, weapons and the like.

Shepherd said that characters' bodies are broken into four "slots" in the game, namely the head, chest, arms and legs. Players will be able to collect new pieces to be equipped that will balance functionality and aestheticism. He discussed the design looks they're going for with their classes: Hunter, Warlock and Titan.

* The Hunter class will have more of a scavenger look, "with capes torn to scraps and gear based off hazmat suits and gas masks."

* The Warlock class draws inspiration from wizards, World War I soldiers and a host of other ranges, including robes and weaponry underneath

* The Titan class is the most armored class and is inspired by "medieval armor layered over tight-fitting suits."

Shephard noted, "We've seen the [customization] system get better and better the more content we add to it. This bodes well for a franchise we want to expand on for years and years."

Destiny releases September 9th for PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
