The FTP space combat game is no more...
Star Wars: Attack Squadrons has been thrown into the proverbial asteroid fied by developer Area 52 Games. Area 52 has announced that they've shut down development on the game, in order to focus on other projects within the license. The free-to-play space combat title was to be a sixteen-player dogfighting game that featured three modes - Free For All, Team Dogfight and Base Defense.
The studio's statement read, "After much consideration, we have decided to cease development so that we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences. We truly appreciate the time you spent engaging in the beta."
No word on what project within the Star Wars universe they will take on. Attack Squadrons had been in beta since January.
