Nintendo Announces New 'Amiibo' Interactive Figures
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 06.10.2014

Nintendo announced at their E3 digital presentation that they are launching a new feature known as "amiibo." Amiibo are not single-bit organisms as the name might imply (science humor for the win!), but instead are interactive figures that are designed to be used with multiple Nintendo games and even compatible across games. You can check out an announcement trailer below.

The amiibo will launch with around ten figures, with more to be released during the holiday season and throughout next year. The first game to support them will be Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, followed by Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi's Woolly World.
