DOTA 2 International 4: Round Robin Day 1 Results
Posted by Stephen Randle on 07.10.2014

Here are the results of the first day of TI4 Round Robin action! Remember, each match was a Best-of-One here in the group stage.

Day One, Draw One

We start off with our very first shocking upset of the day, as Fnatic beats the heavily favoured DK right out of the gate. Meanwhile, Alliance will not repeat their undefeated run from last year, dropping their first match to Invictus Gaming.

Day One, Draw Two

Na'Vi.US picks up where they left off in qualifiers, taking another match off Wild Card qualifiers Team Liquid. Also, underdog team Titan defeats Team Empire in the first meeting between both teams.

If there's anyone wondering if E-Sports are just as intense on the players as real sports, DK's LaNm was forced to receive medical attention following their win over LGD Gaming. Fortunately, he was later declared fit to continue playing.

Meanwhile, Fnatic takes another match over a favoured team, taking down Na'Vi.EU, and the newest Chinese team on the scene, Newbee, grabs a victory over TI2 Champions Invictus Gaming.

In another shocker, Titan drops Alliance, to leave the defending champions 0-2, a start nobody could have seen coming. Also, North American qualifiers Na'Vi.US banks another victory to remain undefeated.

Day One, Draw Five

The fall of Alliance continues, as they lose yet another match to Newbee and remain winless. Even more surprising, Team DK loses another match, this time to the very last team to qualify for TI4, Team Liquid.

Day One, Draw Six

Both Na'Vi teams seem to be in good form, especially the surprising US team, which only formed a few months ago, and moves to 3-0 with another victory.

Team DK continues to slide, although a loss to Invictus Gaming is more a battle of equals than earlier losses. Meanwhile, C9's undefeated day comes to an end at the hands of previously winless mousesports, and Team Liquid adds to a surprising Day One for the North American DOTA teams as they stun Newbee in a game that took over an hour to complete.

Day One, Draw Eight

Alliance finally gets off the bench and takes a win, albeit against the similarly winless and clearly overmatched Arrow Gaming. LGD Gaming also goes to 0-4, but the good news is, Arrow and LGD will play each other in the final draw, so we'll only have one winless team headed into Day Two. Also, the last undefeated team falls, as Cloud 9 beats Na'Vi.US to drop them from 3-0, and catapult C9 in the top spot at the end of the day.

Day One, Draw Nine

Alliance finishes as horrible day with another loss, but at least it means that DK claws back a bit to 2-3. Both are still alive, with lots of DOTA left to play, but a rough day for both last year's champions and the team that was favoured to win this year's event going into the tournament.

Meanwhile, Liquid closes out a shockingly dominant day for themselves and North American DOTA in general with another win, this time against Evil Geniuses, who had been the consensus best NA team in the tournament going in. Plus, Fnatic picked up another win to continue their excellent first day.

Standings - End of Day One

1. Cloud 9 - 4-1
2. Invictus Gaming - 3-1
2. Na'Vi.EU - 3-1
2. Na'Vi.US - 3-1
2. Team Liquid - 3-1
2. Vici Gaming - 3-1
7. Evil Geniuses - 3-2
7. Fnatic - 3-2
7. Newbee - 3-2
10. Titan E-Sports - 2-2
11. Team DK - 2-3
12. Team Empire - 1-3
12. mousesports - 1-3
14. Alliance - 1-4
15. LGD Gaming - 1-4
16. Arrow Gaming - 0-5

Remember, the top two teams after 15 matches move directly into the Upper Bracket for the Finals. The 3-10 seeds will play a series of brackets to eliminate two teams and fill out the rest of the Upper and Lower Brackets for the Finals. The bottom 6 teams will be eliminated from TI4.

TOMORROW: 36 more games! Can DK and Alliance rebound? Can Team Liquid continue its Cinderella story by mysteriously dominating the top Chinese teams? Will Arrow Gaming pull off a shocking victory?
