DOTA 2 International 4: Round Robin Day 2 Results
Posted by Stephen Randle on 07.10.2014

I'm back, and with me are the results of the second day of TI4 Round Robin action! After one day, it appears that Razor and Skywrath Mage have suddenly become the most popular heroes, being picked or banned in most matches (despite middling win percentages). Strangely, those two heroes were barely even noticed in pro play leading up to the International. Anyway, let's get to it.

Day Two, Draw One

Liquid continues their improbable early run by absolutely dominating Fnatic, featuring qojqva on an unlikely Earthshaker solo mid. Meanwhile, Newbee drops back to .500 after starting the tournament 3-0, and Titan brings down another top contender in a continuation of a surprising run for the SEA team.

Cloud 9 drops out of first with a loss, as their opponents Na'Vi.EU, and well as Vici, IG and Liquid leapfrog them by virtue of having played one less game. Meanwhile, there's no good news for the bottom feeders, as both LGD and Arrow add to their loss totals, although Arrow did push DK hard before falling off at the end to remain winless.

Day Two, Draw Three

Titan continues to be world-beaters, suggesting that maybe Mushi wasn't the only reason they finished third at last year's International. Plus, LGD picks up a victory and looks to make some gains after a terrible Day One.

Day Two, Draw Four

Liquid gets another big win, and DK continues their strong start to Day Two, now on the right side of .500 and looking like the team that was picked as the favourites going in.

After beating so many top Chinese teams already, it's sort of a shock to see Liquid lose to LGD, who had struggled so far. Also, IG loses a shocker to Na'Vi.US, after being so solid up until now.

Day Two, Draw Six

Newbee makes some gains and continues to drop C9 down from their Day One first place finish. Meanwhile, mousesports gets a second win to at least salvage something from a generally disappointing round robin so far.

Day Two, Draw Seven

DK caps off a massive Day Two comeback by sweeping their way through all their opponents and ending up 6-3, good for at least a share of third place. Alliance also claws their way back a bit more, and Cloud 9 reverses their slide, at least for one match, while Liquid drops another on an up-and-down day for them.

Day Two, Draw Eight

Ouch, Alliance's comeback day ends on a sour note as Fnatic drops them back to 4-5 and on the bubble for elimination. With eight wins looking like it might be the cutoff for top ten, Alliance must likely go at least 4-2 in their last six games to avoid elimination. Meanwhile, Arrow gets an unlikely first win against Na'Vi.US, who spend Day Two in a bad funk, going 1-4 to drop well down in the rankings. And Vici Gaming is shockingly the top team at the end of the day, ending up an astounding 7-1.

Day Two, Draw Nine

DEF

Arrow Gaming must have discovered some strange North American weakness, taking out Liquid for their second straight win after eight losses. Liquid loses a chance to separate themselves from the pack, and may regret it with some tough games still ahead. Plus, after doing little of note for most of the first two days, Team Empire somehow topples the #2 team, Invictus Gaming, bringing them back into a glut of teams at 6-3.

Standings - End of Day Two

1. Vici Gaming - 7-1
2. Invictus Gaming - 6-3
2. Team DK - 6-3
2. Evil Geniuses - 6-3
5. Na'Vi.EU - 5-3
6. Titan E-Sports - 5-4
6. Team Liquid - 5-4
6. Cloud 9 - 5-4
9. Newbee - 5-5
10. Fnatic - 4-5
10. Alliance - 4-5
10. Na'Vi.US - 4-5
13. LGD Gaming - 3-6
14. Team Empire - 3-6
15. mousesports - 2-7
16. Arrow Gaming 2-8

Remember, the top two teams after 15 matches move directly into the Upper Bracket for the Finals. The 3-10 seeds will play a series of brackets to eliminate two teams and fill out the rest of the Upper and Lower Brackets for the Finals. The bottom 6 teams will be eliminated from TI4.

TOMORROW: 36 more games to come. Can Vici stay on top against some of the toughest teams left to play? Can Liquid hold on? Can DK continue to reverse their fortunes, and will Alliance complete a comeback of their own? And has anyone noticed that EG is quietly staying near the top of the field as well?
