Coming Soon reports that EA and BioWare have announced a co-op dungeon crawling multiplayer mode for Dragon Age: Inquisition. It was created with the single player campaign and is the first time multiplayer was used in the franchise. It will include four player co-op quests in addition to the single player open world story.
BioWare General Manager Aaryn Flynn said: "For 'Dragon Age: Inquisition,' a special team of veteran developers from the 'Dragon Age' and 'Mass Effect' franchises created fun, fast-paced multiplayer gameplay that requires strategic teamwork on top of Inquisition's party-based combat and extensive loot and crafting system. It was early in the game's development that we realized how much fun fans of our series were having, with so many players teaming up in 'Mass Effect 3's' multiplayer mode. We can't wait to give 'Dragon Age' fans an even bigger and deeper experience."
Mulitplayer mode features four players teaming up for several different quests and objectives, exploring dungeous and slaying all of the enemies. Players can collect loot, salvage items, build new weapons and armor and unlock new characters. Starting at launch, players can unlock up to twelve characters in three Inquisition classes (Legionnaire, Reaver and Mage), with a different role in multiplayer combat. The multiplayer mode will have no effect on the single player game.
The game will be presented at PAX Prime in Seattle, Washington from August 29 to September 1. Hands-on multiplayer will be available at the Microsoft Booth in the North Hall on the 4th Floor, Booths 412, 422, 432.
