[PC] Ubisoft Caught Using a Crack to Fix Rainbow Six Vegas 2 After Patch Failed
Posted by Chris Vicari on 07.18.2008
Patch fix acts as a No-CD crack and references an infamous warez group
In a thread posted on the official Ubisoft forums just last week, it was alleged that a crack was used to patch the Direct2Drive versions of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 after the 1.03 patch failed to apply.
When the patch was installed, the game did not recognize its own executable as valid and would not run. In response to the failed patch, Ubisoft released R6Vegas2_Fix.zip which contained an executable that the patch would recognize. Upon closer examination of the executable though it was found to reference "Reloaded", a warez group known for releasing cracks.
As of now the patch has been removed and Ubisoft is currently investigating the issue, but D2D players must still wait for a proper fix.
The thread in the official forums can be found Here.
I hope the pirates get all uppity about Ubisoft using their work without credit or compensation.

I bought this for 360 and its practically a $60 expansion pack. Online people play the same damn maps as RS 1 and there's only 6 new weapons. Thank god I recouped some of the money getting GTA.
