Couple to Have Halo-Themed Wedding
Posted by James McGee on 12.20.2008

When you think "romance," alien invasions and tons of firepower don't often come to mind but…hey, waitaminute, what am I saying?! What could be more romantic? Apparently, Desirai Labrada and John Henry agree, as they will be pledging their eternal devotion to one another with "A Match Made in Halo" wedding on Saturday, January 17. The blessed event will take place at the Orlando Science Center as part of Otronicon, a huge video game event.

The bride and groom met while playing Halo online in December of 2004 (I personally like to imagine the proposal taking place right before a shotgun blast is unloaded into the bride-Spartan's face, but I'm weird like that). Labrada later relocated to Florida to attend Full Sail University in the Degital Media Degree Program, and the two continued their relationship face-to-face.

The Halo paraphernalia will include Master Chief serving as the officiate, Halo emblems for the bridal party, a string quartet playing music from the soundtrack, and a cake/décor inspired by the games. MTV Multiplayer Gaming Blog will be covering the event with updates and video leading up to the big day. The event is being sponsored by a host of Central Florida businesses.

Personally, I'd like to wish the couple the best of luck, and suggest that they focus on team-based multiplayer from here on out. Remember: The family who pwns together stays together.

@ The Rev

Why are they losers? Because they want to be different and have a themed wedding? So if a man and woman want a a traditional wedding is ok but if its outside the norm, its not? What's wrong of having something outlandish for a wedding? I'm sorry everyone can't be as cool and socially normal as you. Prick.

Oh yeah becuase a God of War themed wedding is Sooooo much better.

No seriously when they turn 70 and they've grown out of their Halo Phase they're going to regret it.

Halo isn't an endearing franchise.

And I own a 360 and that's all I play so don't label me a sony fanboy either.

who the hell are we to criticize other people? they're not hurting you or others in any way. Let them enjoy life and worry about your own life.

Regardless what you think of the fact that they have chosen to make this a part of their special day, wish them well:
